Sergeant Patel moved to America in 2004 from the Middle East. His parents decided to bring him to the United States for a better future. With that, he embraced everything that was thrown at him. Went through the educational system in New Jersey and then attended Rutgers University, Newark for a Criminal Justice Degree.

He started his law enforcement career in 2011. He remembers being the only person of color in his police academy breaking the norm for his brother and sisters to follow. He started his career as a part-time police officer, moved over, and became a full-time officer. He has worked on patrol, as a Detective in the crime scene unit and is currently assigned to the Community relation unit as a sergeant.

His message to all who want to pursue a career in law enforcement:-

I did not reach here by myself. I was guided to follow this path by mentors and leaders. If we all can help one person in our lives we will all succeed.
